A steam shovel is depicted lifting dirt from a pit. In the background are city buildings. Signage on the steam shovel reads "C J Maney Co. Inc.," a Somerville construction firm. Ink insription on verso identifies theimage as "View looking toward Kendall St. between Shawmut Ave. and Tremont St., Rx." Although the artist locates Kendall St. in Roxbury, the site is technically in Boston's South End. This is one of a group of watercolors by Crite depicting the urban renewal project in the South End.
